A Procrastinator's Summer | Cumberland Park, Nashville | Family Documentary Photography

We had a plain summer.  Nothing fancy, nothing planned, just our everyday lives with some pool time and no preschool sprinkled in.  Seems like there is so much hype around having this amazing summer with your kids.  I did my usual...getting kids up, feeding them (for what seems like forever, will their bellies ever fill???) and trying my best to get them outside for an extended period of time.  Hopefully with their shoes off and on the actual ground.

I've known about Cumberland Park and it's awesome splash park for years, I have no idea why I never thought to go throughout the summer.  It's probably my desire to be somewhere not too crowded, which is sometimes difficult around Nashville during the summer.  I love people, I really do, but sometimes it's just more difficult to parent the shenanigans when there are lots of people around.  So many things to watch and pay attention to.

The splash park is now closed for the season.  We made it exactly ONE time this year.  But I'm calling it a win.  My son, who at the beginning of the summer (and every time he showered or bathed), could not handle getting water in his face, let alone put his face into the water to blow bubbles is now running through little waterfalls without freaking out. I wish I had done more sooner to get him comfortable around water, but I'm just gonna enjoy these moments.  We'll do better with our second, and next season, we will be back!!!
